Description

The property includes trails that are excellent for hiking and cross-country skiing. Several narrow trails wind through a young, mixed forest of hemlock, beech, maple, and yellow and white birch. The two main trails lead to the unspoiled Mill Creek tidal estuary and salt marsh. There are connecting trails totaling 2 to 3 miles. Although some of the trails are flat, many have a varied elevation through the forested areas abutting the salt marsh.

Trailhead Information

Falmouth Nature Preserve is located off Foreside Road/ME Route 88 about 1.5 miles north of the intersection of US Route 1 and ME Route 88 (0.8 miles north of Depot Roads). Coming from the north, it is about 0.7 miles past Johnson Road and 100 yards past Preservation Drive. The driveway leading to the parking lot is on the northern side of the road, poorly marked and easy to miss. There is a kiosk with a map of the trail system at the trailhead.
