Description

All dogs must be leashed on the rerouted Hayfield Trail during bobolink nesting season, from May 1st to August 1st. Additionally, the field itself is completely closed to human or dog traffic during this nesting season. Please follow the Maine Trail to access the rest of the trail system, which remains open. Signs and blue markers will be in place if you are unfamiliar with this trail. The Hayfield Trail will reopen in the summer after bobolink have left the fields, likely in late July.

Fuller Farm is an exceptional site for bird watching, walking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. Follow the trail a short distance to reach the wooded area that abuts the Nonesuch River and features several loop trail options. The waterfall trail parallels a scenic brook and leads to a waterfall with picnic table.

Fuller Farm was acquired by Scarborough Land Trust in 2000 and is a former homestead that included woodlands and fields used for haying and pastureland. The property includes 3,500 feet of frontage on the Nonesuch River, which flows into the Scarborough Marsh. The 70 acres of fields are hayed on an annual basis to provide nesting habitat for birds.

Other Information

Please stay out of the fields between April and August to protect the hay crop and nesting birds.

Please note that biking is not allowed on the preserve.

I love dogs, but there are so many out of control dogs on this trail. Once two goldens jumped on me with muddy paws and banged into my bad knee. Then today I was charged by 3 dogs out of the woods with no owner in site. When I found her and asked her to call them off she swore at me. Love this trail but I'm going to avoid it until the leash or voice control rule is actually acknowledged.

Nice trail system, well marked w maps @ junctions. Very icy and rough due to footsteps frozen in slush. Glad we wore our spikes especially on the Brook Trail.

Great hike.. I went when the Hayfield trail was closed due to bird habitat, but that's a very small path at the beginning and there are still plenty of trails. It was open at the beginning but there's mostly tree canopy along the trails. There are lots of bridges and raised planks, but it wasn't muddy at all when I went today (it's been a very dry month or so though). Not a lot of elevation, good size parking lot, no ticks found on the dog or myself, great quick walk.

My friend and I have hiked this trail system three times now and we absolutely love it!! Glad to see that they
are maintaining the little trail bridges thru the muddier
areas.

Great local short hike for dog owners and trail runners. The waterfall/feature and bridge are nicely maintained.
