Come see the work that has been done to restore the Masse Dam removal area, and hear about the successful project to restore alewife passage through the China Lakes region. We will gather at the site of the former Masse Dam, on Main Street in East Vassalboro just north of the town center.
The Outlet Stream Restoration Project at Masse Dam involved the removal of a relic dam and restoration of a 6-acre impoundment to 0.41 miles of riverine conditions, with bordering wetland. Masse Dam was the first of six dams to be addressed on Outlet Stream, which connects China Lake’s 3,900 acres to the Sebasticook River in the Kennebec River Watershed.
