This award-winning film, produced by The American Chestnut Foundation (TACF), documents the history of the American Chestnut, its obliteration by chestnut blight, and its road to restoration.

The film explains why the chestnut was so essential to the social, economic, and ecological fabric of forest communities from Georgia to Maine. It also examines why so many people have dedicated so much time and treasure to return this iconic tree to its native range. Through the stories of common folks, scientists and notable chestnut lovers, among them Dolly Parton, President Jimmy Carter, Barbara Kingsolver and E.O. Wilson, you’ll witness how the love of a tree can drive people to secure its future.
The film’s runtime is 52 minutes, and will be followed by a Q&A with folks from the Maine Chapter of TACF, Loon Echo Land Trust, and The Magic Lantern Theater & 4-H Innovation Center.
