Designed as an endurance hiking event, the Make-A-Wish Trailblaze Challenge gives participants the opportunity to tackle 23.4 miles of Maine mountain terrain, all in one amazing day while raising much needed funds to grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses. This is a journey, not a race and caters to all levels from hiking novice to advanced outdoor enthusiasts!
On September 28th, 2019, Make-A-Wish Maine will host the first event in Northern New England by hiking a portion of the scenic Maine Huts Trail in the Carrabassett Valley. Participants are taken through 14 weeks of supported training before converging upon Sugarloaf for a weekend of concentrated activity and passionate celebration.
Participants are asked to raise $2,500, one quarter of which goes towards the costs of participating, including a training program, organized hikes leading up to the main event, support, sustenance and aid stations during the hike on the 28th, and meals and accommodations for the weekend of the event. The other three quarters of the amount raised will go directly to support Make-A-Wish.
The registration deadline for the event is August 16, but to begin your journey, you'll need to register for an information session.
