Join Wendy Weiger – local guide, writer, and manager of the Monson A.T. Visitor Center – on a slow-paced saunter along Big Wilson Stream that will take us to two dramatic waterfalls. Our plan will be to walk mindfully, using all our senses to enjoy the woods and waters around us. Along the way, we’ll pause for brief meditations to deepen our experience of the natural world. Come savor the beauty of summer in the Maine Woods!
The hike is fairly easy. We'll be walking slowly on uneven ground through the woods and on rocks bordering the falls. The total distance will be 1-1.5 miles. Be sure to bring sturdy shoes or boots; water; bug repellent; and extra clothing layers.
We will meet at the Monson A.T. Visitor Center in the Historical Society building on Monson’s Main Street. From there, we will carpool to the trailhead in Willimantic.
Please register by calling the Monson A.T. Visitor Center at (207) 573-0163 or email us so we'll know how many people to expect and can make plans for carpooling. There is a maximum group size of 12 for this event.
Rain date is Saturday August 10.
