For our November Work/Walk Day, we are going to build a new trail at Cascade Falls Park, one of Saco's most popular natural attractions.
Thanks to a new bridge erected by the City of Saco and Maine Conservation Corps last month, it's now easier than ever to cross the brook and explore the paths on the far bank.
Our new Falls View Trail will lead visitors from the parking lot to the new bridge and across to the bear cage, slate quarry, old picnic area and best-viewing sites of the falls. Further improvements will be added to the park in the coming months by Saco Bay Trails and the City of Saco.
Our job will be to clear and mark the new trail, put up informational and safety signs, and make light improvements. No tools are needed, but work gloves will be helpful.
Everyone is welcome. Feel free to work, walk the trails, or both. Light snacks will be provided.
We will meet at 9 a.m. in the parking lot at 61 Cascade Road in Saco, just below Route 1. See you there!
Rain date:
It's important to get this job done before the bad weather sets in. We'll work in light rain, but if it's too bad to work we'll reschedule for the next day, Sunday, November 3, at 9 a.m.
