This paved trail runs the length of downtown Fort Kent, paralleling the St. John River, and both starts and ends with visitor sites. The trail originates at the America's First Mile monument on West Main Street, just south of the international Claire, New Brunswick-Fort Kent, Maine bridge and adjacent to the Fort Kent Customs and Immigration terminal, then travels northeast along Main Street. The trail passes the post office, the public library, and Monument Square before crossing a bridge over the Fish River. On the northeastern side of the bridge, Riverside Park is easily accessible. The trail then comes to an end at the intersection of US-1/East Main Street and Route 161/Market Street. At the northern end of the trail there are three historic attractions: America's First Mile Endpoint, the Fort Kent Train Station Museum and the Historic Society Railroad Station, and the Dube House. Easy access to attractions along the trail and the trail's level surface make it highly enjoyable for families with young children.
Along its length, the trail intersects with a number of other Fort Kent and Fish River Greenway trails, so it can easily be incorporated as part of a loop or traversed an out-and-back.

Traveling on ME-11/Pleasant Street, turn left at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Main Street and travel approximately 0.4 miles to the America's First Mile Monument and trailhead, which is adjacent to the Customs and Immigration terminal for the international bridge between Clair, New Brunswick and Fort Kent, Maine.
