Homestead Trail - second part only (4.5 mile loop): Provides riverside hiking meandering through homestead foundations, a visual display of how life used to be along the Androscoggin River. Cross-country skiers can begin from the northern parking lot along the Old River Road Trail and continue to the Picnic Meadow (1 mi) via the Old River Road Trail or the Harrington Path. From there, ski the Homestead Trail (0.9 mi) and return on the Old River Road Trail back to the parking area (1.8 mi). Other allowed uses include: snowshoeing (ungroomed); along Old River Road Trail uses include: snowmobiling (groomed) and snowshoeing (ungroomed).
Ridge Trail (6.9 mile trip): For an extensive cross-country ski experience which provides a scenic overlook of the river. This trail is reached by following the Old River Road Trail, joining the extended ungroomed Homestead Trail, and returning to the Old River Road Trail again (2.0 mi). Turn left, proceed over a bridge, turn right and continue up the ungroomed Ridge Trail (1.0 mi.) to the outcrop overlooking the river. Turn right and descend steeply away from the river on the Ledges Trail (0.4 mi). Turn left on the Old River Road Trail (skiers who wish to ski to the southern trailhead can continue straight onto the Old River Road Trail rather than turning left). Return 3 miles to the Picnic Meadow, and on to the parking area via the Old River Road Trail or Harrington Trail. Other allowed uses include: snowshoeing (ungroomed); along Old River Road Trail uses include: snowmobiling (groomed) and snowshoeing (ungroomed).
Pine Loop Trail (5.7 mile trip): Access this loop from the southern entrance of the park, by skiing on the multi-use Old River Road Trail. After 1.6 miles, turn right onto the ungroomed Pine Loop Trail (2.5 mile loop with overlook spur) to enjoy skiing along the river and through the woods. Return to the parking on the Old River Road Trail.
When spending time outdoors in the winter, please be prepared with extra clothing and appropriate footwear, map and compass, and adequate water and food. Inform someone where you are going and when you expect to return.
Pets are allowed in the park on a leash only. Please be respectful of neighboring boundaries.
