The Homestead Trail (ungroomed) -- 4.5 mile loop with a 2.6 mile option -- provides riverside hiking meandering past homestead foundations and along the old river road. Snowshoers can begin from the northern parking lot to the Picnic Meadow (1.1 mi), from there you can take the Harrington Path and either Old River Road Trail or Porcupine Trails back to the parking area or to extend your hike, continue south on the Homestead Trail past the Picnic Meadow to the juncture with the Old River Road Trail, which leads back to the main entrance (1.8 mi). Other allowed uses on the second half of the Homestead Trail include cross-country skiing (ungroomed) and along the Old River Road Trail, uses include snowmobiling (groomed) and cross-country skiing (ungroomed).

For an extensive snowshoe experience, venture to the Ridge Trail (ungroomed) -- 6.9 mile trip -- which provides a scenic overlook of the river. This trail is reached by following the extended Homestead Trail to the Old River Road Trail (2.0 mi). Turn left, proceed over a bridge, turn right and continue up the Ridge Trail (1.0 mi.) to the outcrop overlooking the river. Turn left and descend steeply toward the river on the Ledges Trail (0.4 mi). Turn left on the Old River Road Trail and return 2.25 miles to the Picnic Meadow, and on to the parking area via the Homestead Trail (1.1 mi). Other allowed uses on the Ridge Trail include cross-country skiing (ungroomed), and along Old River Road Trail, snowmobiling (groomed) and cross-country skiing (ungroomed).
