Description

Located a very short distance from downtown Farmington, Clifford Woods provides a nearby getaway for a short walk. This trail goes through a hardwood forest with little undergrowth allowing one to see a great distance through the forest. The trail breaks out of the forest for a while to follow a transmission line and has two intersections where one can reenter the shade of the forest. Along the path there is a stream crossing to navigate before heading further northwards up a hill towards the Titcomb Hill Road. The property is actively logged and users should pay extra attention in recently logged areas to be sure they are following the trail.

Other Information

Clifford Woods is owned by Maine Woodland Owners (formerly SWOAM). As with all MWO properties, Clifford Woods is managed as a working forest and selective logging occasionally occurs on the property. If a logging operation is going on, the property will be posted warning users.

Trailhead Information

The Clifford Woods has two trailheads. Leaving the center of Farmington, turn from Main Street on to Perham Street and stay straight for 1.0 miles. The southern trailhead lies on the roadside across from the intersection of Fairview Avenue. During non-church hours, the parking lot at the New Hope Baptist church, about a quarter-mile northeast of the trailhead, may be utilized.

For the northern trailhead, turn on to Anson Street in downtown Farmington.  After 0.4 miles, continue on to Titcomb Hill Road for 0.25 miles. The northern trailhead is located on the right side of Titcomb Hill Road. There is space to park by the trailhead.
