Description

The lollipop loop trail trail begins with Sappi’s canoe portage trail, which is a short ways back up the road from the parking area. The next section of the trail travels on the remains of the historic Oxford-Cumberland Towpath. At the east end, the trail loops around along the Presumpscot River, with a short spur trail at the east end of the loop providing access to the water.

There is additionally fishing access on the island across from the trailhead, and a boat launch a short way along the trail.

Trail Tips

Minimize Campfire Impacts
Use only small pieces of dead and down wood for campfires and let them burn down to ash. Please extinguish your campfire before leaving.

Trailhead Information

From Portland or from exit 48 off I-95, head west on ME-258. At the intersection where ME-258 goes left, continue straight onto Cumberland Street and cross the river. Continue on Cumberland Street, which becomes River Road, for 7.3 miles, then turn left on Hurricane Road, which becomes Covered Bridge Road. Go 1.1 miles and take a right on Dundee Road, along which it is 0.5 miles to the Dundee Dam. The trailhead is a short way back along the road from the parking area; look for the brown and white hiker sign to find the beginning of the trail.
