Description

This trip is all flatwater miles and traverses Eagle Lake and part of the Fish River. Caution: Eagle Lake can get rough during strong north or south winds.

The route at the Eagle Lake public boat landing, located on Old Main Street. It travels down the lake in a northerly direction until coming to the outlet of the lake. The outlet is marked by a series of old log driving piers that still remain there today. At this point, you will now be in the Fish River.

The Fish River is known locally for its excellent fishing. It is additionally, much like the Eagle Lake thoroughfare, a valuable natural resource to the fish and game, and provides good opportunities for seeing moose, deer or a soaring bald eagle overhead. The Fish River continues for 3.8 miles before arriving at the village of Soldier Pond. The take-out at the public landing is on the right immediately after the bridge.

Caution: Eagle Lake has a tendency to be very rough when windy, particularly during north or south winds on this stretch. Fatalities have resulted from high wind conditions on this lake.
