The Great Farm Brook Trail is easy to find and excellent for a casual walk with children and dogs. The path is wide and fairly flat. There is access to a large pond on the west side of the trail, which fills with the chorus of frogs in the spring, and Great Farm Brook runs along the eastern boundary. At the end of the trail there is an open field with abundant bird activity.
The main trail is about a half mile in length, or just over 1.1 miles out and back again. It consists of an old woods road so it is mostly flat and wide. Toward the south end of the trail, beaver activity can result in the trail becoming flooded for a short stretch, particularly in the spring. An old gravel pit along the trail is slowly being reclaimed by the vegetation typical of the area, mostly alders and wildflowers.
On the west side of the main trail about a quarter mile from the trailhead, a short marked path diverges to a significant vernal pool that hosts a variety of amphibians.
The eastern boundary of the preserve is defined by Great Farm Brook, which is accessible at a few points by a recently cleared 0.2 mile loop trail to the east of the main trail. The stream can be fished for trout, and provides a cool spot to sit and relax on the many rocks along its edge.
The main trail and loop are blazed blue. Spur trails to several view points, to the vernal pool and stream, are marked from the main trail and the loop.

From points south along US-1 and ME-3 in Belfast, follow ME-7 (Moosehead Trail) north to the village of Brooks. At the intersection with ME-139, continue north on ME-7 for 4 miles. Turn right on Village Road. The trailhead is 1 mile ahead on the right.
A small white sign and gate mark the entrance. Parking is in front of the gate or along Village Road.
