Description

A variety of habitats in close proximity make the Farm a regional birding destination. Other highlights of the property include our nature center, community gardens, a popular sledding hill, wind generator, salt and restored freshwater wetlands with an observation platform, and trails through forest and meadow along the Great Salt Bay, Maine’s first Marine Protected Area.

This 115-acre property is DRA’s headquarters campus, home to our offices, educational programs, and wildlife preserve. One of few intact saltwater farms in the Midcoast, the property was acquired in several pieces starting in 1994 with the help of generous members, neighbors, and donors, including Betty Noyce.

Other Information

The trails are open dawn to dusk. No camping or fires permitted. Please take only pictures. To protect wildlife and for the sake of other visitors, dogs must be leashed at all times in all seasons on the farmhouse side of Belvedere Road. Dogs are permitted off-leash on the barn side of the road under reliable voice command.
