Description

The first 0.3 miles of the trail travel through the woods and across two hand-built footbridges over Ott Stream, a perennial stream that is rust colored due to the tannic and humic acids from a wetland upstream. The trail then comes to a junction with a loop. Just past the junction to the left is a lime kiln chimney cap, a relic of Rockport Harbor’s lime kilns. Circling around the loop in a clockwise direction, the trail reaches the shore after about 0.2 miles. A stone chair sits along the trail by the shore, from which to take in views of Rockport Harbor. Returning back along the same 0.3 mile trail from the loop makes for a total hiking distance of 1 mile.

Trail Tips

Plan Ahead and Prepare
Know your limits – it’s okay to turn back. Your home is the ultimate destination, not the summit.

Trailhead Information

From Camden, take US-1 south. 2.4 miles from the center of Camden Village, turn left on Pascal Ave. Go 430 feet and turn right on School Street, then 0.1 miles to a right onto Spruce Street. About 100 yards up Spruce Street there is a parking area for the trailhead, marked by a sign.
