The East Side of Lake George Regional Parks is an easy network or walking and hiking trails that are groomed in the winter for cross-country skiing. The trail network is known as the Alphabet Trails because every intersection has a corresponding letter. Visitors can simply wander into the network and when they want to turn around follow the intersections down the alphabet back to "A" and the trailhead. Some of the more interesting features include a huge glacial erratic boulder near intersection "Q" and a stand of Red Pines near intersections "I" and "O". In addition, the bald summit of Jewell Hill has a splendid vista of Lake George and the hills that surround it to the north.
The west side of Lake George Regional Park has a series of trails that climb the hill and skirt the shore. You'll find the Porcupine Trail and the vernal pools are fascinating for kids. The island makes a great picnic place. These trails are ideal for winter snowshoeing. There is a box at the trailheads with trail maps and recommended loops.
The west side of the park is where most of the events at the park take place including school group activities, weddings, family reunions, and a four-week day camp.
Snowmobiling is permitted on a single trail in the East Park during winter, corresponding to intersections T-S-V-U-Z on to Canaan Elementary School. All other trails, however, are closed to motor vehicles year-round. Portions of the trails cross privately owned lands. Please respect property owners by staying on the marked trails. In addition, please follow the "leave no trace" philosophy on all of the trails. The park is open sunrise to sunset 365 days a year. Visitors can access park even if gates are closed.
Lake George Regional Park (LGRP) is a day-use lakeside park established in 1992. The property is owned by the State of Maine, leased through a local agreement by the towns of Skowhegan and Canaan, and managed for public use by Lake George Corporation. The park is the former home of Camp Modin which continues to operate in Belgrade Lakes region. Lake George Corporation is a 501 C-3 non profit entity and does not receive state funding, instead relying on the support of volunteers, donations, and event revenue to sustain annual operations.
Pets are prohibited from May to September.

Lake George Regional ParkFrom West: From the intersections of US Routes 2 and 201 in downtown Skohegan (Main Street and Water Street), take US Route 2 east (Water Street) approximately 7 miles. There are two entrances on the left: West Lake George Park Road and Lake George Road. Parking is available at both locations.
From East: From the intersection of US Route 2 and ME Route 23 in Canaan, follow US Route 2 a little less than 1.5 miles to the entrances of Lake George Regional Park on the right.
