A long and rewarding ramble through a mixed age forest leads to the top of the 565' tall Mount Tuck.
Hikers should head up the dirt road (Blanchard Lane) on foot through forests and meadows, 0.7 miles across abutting property to the Preserve. The trail proper begins on the right from Blanchard Lane. The trail travels up a rocky dirt trail that climbs continuously, but moderately, over 0.8 miles to the forested summit of Mount Tuck. It continues 0.3 miles to a scenic overlook on the east side of the mountain, with views of Blue Hill, Acadia, and Penobscot Bay.
The scenic overlook past the summit is 1.8 miles from the trailhead, making for a round trip hike of 3.6 miles.
Please note: The trail does not start on Land Trust property. Public walking access is permitted on the dirt road. Abutting landowners occasionally use this road with trucks and ATVs. They drive very slowly but if encountered while hiking please give them the right of way. This road can be wet and icy in the winter, micro crampons / ice spikes are recommended.
