There are two hiking trails on the south side of Nickerson Lake, one leading to the top of the "mountain" and the other which is a slightly longer, less steep loop to the west. Both trails begin at the shore about 1,000 feet west of the rope swing. There is a very small cross country ski trail marker at the beginning. At about 200 feet from the shore, you will find trail maps in a box attached to a tree on your left. Please return these maps to the box at the end of your hike.
Trail to the Top: after walking about 600 feet straight back from the shore, the trail branches to the left, crosses a bridge and boardwalk and ascends the "mountain." It is 1.5 miles long.
Loop Trail: after walking about 300 feet straight back from the shore, this trail branches to the right. It is 1.7 miles long.
The trails at Nickerson Lake are maintained by Nickerson Lake Wilderness Preservation, Inc. For more information, please contact:
Nickerson Lake Wilderness Preservation, IncAccess to the trails is by boat only. There is a public boat launch located on the southeast end of Nickerson Lake off of Aspen Lane, just past the State Park.
