Description

This half mile network leads from the Maine Mall to the Shops at Clarks Pond Plaza and provides a respite from busy area roadways. Start at the pocket park on the east side of  Philbrook Avenue/Maine Mall Parking lot where the trail leaves from a gate a little further south.

It begins as an unpaved access road, and soon becomes the hiking path. The trail bears left, goes over a bridge and, just before a second bridge, turns right uphill to continue to the “Shops at Clarks Pond” parking lot. Continuing along the northern edge of the parking area and across Clark's Pond Parkway provides access to the network of trails at Clark's Pond and a longer network of trails.

Trail Tips

Plan Ahead and Prepare
Use common sense. If it seems like a bad idea, it probably is.

Trailhead Information

The trail is located between the Maine Mall area and the Clark's Pond Plaza off Gorham Road in south Portland. From the Maine Mall, park at the eastern end of the Maine Mall parking lot and look for the kiosk and picnic area. The trail leaves from a gate a little further south.

From Clark's Pond Plaza, there is no designated trailhead but the trail runs along the north eastern side of the parking lot and can be accessed at several places. Look on the edge of the parking lot for paths connecting to the trail.
