Description

This trail descends downhill, passing through four distinct types of forest. The quiet hillside hosts abundant wildlife; tracks and scat of moose, deer, bobcat and fox may be spotted. The trail ends 1.1 miles from the trailhead at Pitcher Pond, a great spot for a picnic. The shorefront Pitcher Pond is accessible only available via the Newman Trail, through the Breslin-Richenaker Preserve.

PRESERVE GUIDELINES

  • Open for low-impact public recreation during daylight hours.
  • Bicycles, motorized vehicles, and horses are prohibited.
  • Dogs must be leashed at all times.
  • Camping and fires are not allowed.
  • Removal of vegetation is not allowed.
  • Drones are not allowed except by permitted use.
  • Groups larger than 12 must obtain Land Trust permission prior to use.
  • Hunting is permitted, but hunting of predators and trapping is forbidden.

Trailhead Information

From Lincolnville Beach, take US-1 north 5.3 miles, then turn left onto Beech Hill Road in Northport. Follow Beech Hill Road 3.8 miles, passing over a hill, to a small parking lot on the right. The trailhead is on the opposite side of the road from the parking lot.
