The Mission of Katahdin Area Trails (KAT) is to serve the community of the greater Katahdin region by providing recreational and educational opportunities for all people, while working to conserve natural resources. KAT strives to accomplish this mission by creating a network of high quality trails.
The Hammond Ridge Trail Systems and Black Cat Mountain are located overlooking Millinocket Lake. This system comprises a 5-mile green single track loop, 1.5 miles of blue single-track trails, over 18 miles of nordic ski trails, These trails are wonderful for walking, hiking and running also. Access the trails is from the trailhead in the River Driver's restaurant parking lot.
