Description

The scenic Fairgrounds Loop Trail passes by the old Unity Fairgrounds and provides a beautiful overlook of Sandy Stream. The trail has an uneven, natural surface.

CommUnity Trails Guidelines:

  • The CommUnity Trail system is open to the public.
  • Where indicated, the trails are wheelchair and stroller accessible. The Bikeway is suitable for bikes, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing.
  • The CommUnity Trail system is NOT open to motorized vehicles.
  • Please be respectful of the rules and all other trail users.
  • Dogs are allowed on most of the trails in the CommUnity Trail system. Dogs must be under control at all times. All waste caused by dogs must be immediately removed.
  • Many of the trails in this system run through private property. Trail users must stay on the marked trail and be respectful of the rights of private land owners.

Trailhead Information

From the center of the Unity's village, head west on ME-139 (School Street). Go 0.5 from Main Street to Newell Court on the left. The trailhead is aboutr 700 feet down Newell Court, with the Fair Grounds Loop heading west on the right side of the road, and the Bikeway heading east on the left side of the road. There is space for one or two cars to park along the side of the road.
