Description

This tranquil trail offers visitors the opportunity to see birds and wildlife, enjoy a quiet walk to the Kennebec River, and enjoy the shade offered by towering white pines and eastern hemlocks. The trail travels through a wooded area for 0.2 miles before reaching a loop. The 0.4 mile loop winds towards the river and along a back channel, before returning to the trail leading back to the parking area.

Thank you for your stewardship and care of this community land. Help us protect this special place by observing the following guidelines:

  • Carry In/Carry Out – please remove everything you bring to the preserve.
  • Respect other visitors’ peaceful use and enjoyment of the preserve.
  • Please admire and enjoy your surroundings but leave flowers, plants and rocks undisturbed.
  • Dogs should be kept on leash or within reliable voice control at all times.
  • For your safety, wear blaze orange during hunting season – pets too!
  • No fires or camping.
  • Motorized vehicles are not permitted on the trails.

Trailhead Information

From center of Skowhegan, head east on US-2 to East River Road, on the right (2.8 miles from the junction of US-2 and ME-201 in the center of Skowhegan.)   Go 3 miles south on East River Road. Just past the intersection with Eaton Mountain Road look for the preserve sign and driveway on the right.
