The trails in the Furth-Talalay Sanctuary start at the Cross Road and travel 0.5 miles into the woods before splitting into two loops. Follow the “Old Road” sign to the left to continue to the Furth Wildlife Sanctuary which is about a one-mile loop. Here you will find active beaver habitat, young forest, an old woods road and a flowing brook.
To the right is the Talalay Nature Sanctuary which also has a one-mile loop trail. The Talalay Trail winds through mossy old growth forest and white cedar swamp. The tall trees here are home to many nesting migratory songbirds so be sure to bring your binoculars.
