Upland forest interspersed with vernal pools yields to the important and fragile wetlands of Beaver Dam Heath, home to animals needing extensive range and diverse habitat to thrive. The 145-acre Grant’s Meadow preserve is located in the northwest portion of the 1600-acre heath.
Great Works Regional Land Trust leads an annual two-hour ski/snowshoe hike on the heath in February.

Great Works Regional Land TrustFrom ME Route 236 in Berwick, travel east on ME Route 9/School Street for 2.1 miles, then left onto Old Sanford Road for 2.4 miles. Turn right onto Diamond Hill Road. The entrance to the property and the parking area are about a third of a mile on the right.
