The Hemlock Trail at Dead River West follows glacial ridges in a mature forest with views of a marsh, coming out on shore of the Dead River. Huge boulders - glacial erratics - can be found along the trail. It is 0.5 miles to the river from the trailhead, or 1 mile round trip.

The trailhead is located at 455 Mast Hill Road in Bucksport.
From Bucksport, head east on ME-1. 2.9 miles after the light turn left onto Upper Falls Rd. In 1.7 miles continue onto Mast Hill Road. In 2.1 miles you will find the parking lot at the trailhead.
