The trail is mostly flat and explores wetlands and the pond shore. There are several trails intersecting on the property. History buffs will enjoy an old Homestead cellar near the south end of the trail network. The Northern Forest Canoe Trail uses the property and also maintains a first-come first-serve lean-to and fire pit near Gull Pond Stream.
An ATV/snowmobile trail can be accessed on the eastern edge of the property, but all museum trails are non-motorized traffic only. Bicycles are welcome.
The Maine Forestry Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10am-4pm, and by appointment. The collection consists of hundreds of artifacts from regional logging operations, and exhibits of traditional art by western Maine lumbermen.

BY CAR
From Main Street in the center of Rangeley, head north/east on ME-16. Go 0.2 miles then turn right to stay on ME-16. The Maine Forestry Museum is 1 mile farther down ME-16, on the right. The trails are accessed on the lower grounds behind the pavilion.
BY WATER
Chiefs Point can be accessed by canoe or kayak from the public boat launch on Haley Pond on Pond Street in Rangeley.
