This 60-acre parcel sits in Buxton, just North of the Saco town line and east of the Saco River. With views of the Saco River and many unique tree species, this property is a great place to visit all year around.
The main trail from the parking area to the river (red trail in image) is the recommended path when you visit this property. This trail is about 1.5 miles, out and back, and includes a poster describing the Saco River watershed at the riverbank. There are gentle hills with some narrow, seasonally wet, eroded sections. Unique tree species including shagback hickory, basswood, and hophornbeam exist along the trail side. Keep your eyes peeled for wild blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and black berries!
This property is good for birdwatching, as there are many woodland songbirds and Bald Eagles frequent the Saco River.
Snowshoeing is possible, but winter parking is difficult.
