Sanford-Springvale Rail Trail

The Sanford-Springvale Rail Trail is a six-mile trail built on the old rail bed that passes through Sanford. Running easterly from the Lebanon town line, this multi-use trail is used year round by hikers, bicyclists, walkers, joggers, cross-country skiers, horses, ATV riders, and snowmobilers.

Description

This trail runs from the Lebanon border through Springvale, crossing multiple roads as it passes through town. Features include forest, Deering Pond, and a nearby baseball field. 

Work on the trail has resulted in graded dirt and gravel which allows for multiple uses. 

This trail provides ample recreational opportunities in all four seasons.

A walked the trail today towards Lebanon and also back towards Deering Pond from Hanson Ridge Rd. The weather was nice, but I would definitely recommend some kind of bug spray, because the flies and mosquitoes were pretty thick today.
