The trail leads through the forest 0.3 miles from the trailhead to a loop. The 1 mile loop travels along the shores of the Bagaduce River for 0.2 miles. There is an additional 0.3 mile trail bisecting the loop for those wishing to explore more of the property.
The Bagaduce River is one of only a few places in Maine where horseshoe crabs are known to breed. Because of its narrow constriction and broad coves, this river is one of the most productive estuaries in Maine, with the tidal fluctuations in its protected waterways providing excellent conditions for a healthy variety of shellfish.
