Sugarloaf Outdoor Center: Snowshoe Trails

Starting from The Lodge, the snowshoe trails at the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center loop through the forest and crisscross the nordic ski trails.

Description

The singletrack snowshoe trails loop through the mountainside starting from the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center and reaching all the way to the alpine slopes. There are multiple loop options along the well-marked trails. For trail pass prices, visit the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center website

The lodge area has plenty of room for warming up, a retail and rental shop and the Bull Moose Cafe for post-snowshoe lunch and cocoa. If you haven't had enough, there is also an ice-skating rink just outside the lodge area.

Other Information

  • Trail passes are required for access from December 1 - April 15
  • Trail use is at your own risk
  • Please make room if you encounter grooming equipment
  • Pets are not allowed on the snowshoe trails from December 1 - April 15
  • The descending skier has the right-of-way.
  • Walking is not allowed on the trails in the winter; you must have either skis or snowshoes on to use the trails.
  • When crossing nordic trails, avoid stepping on the groomed tracks if possible.

Trailhead Information

From the south, drive north on ME-16/27. Five miles after the center of Carrabassett Valley, turn left onto Touring Center Road. There is a large sign for the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center, but it comes up fast so be on the look out. Drive 0.4 miles up Touring Center Road to the parking lots and lodge.
