This trail system is comprised of out-and-back trails at Thurston Mill Site and Nonesuch Parcel.
The Thurston Mill Monument is 4-acre parcel is located on the Watson Mill Road, at the bridge crossing the Nonesuch River. A granite monument and informational kiosk documenting the history of the Thurston Mill are located next to a small parking area, which is limited to two cars. There is a lovely short walk into the woods to an overlook of the Nonesuch River descending over some picturesque rapids.
The Nonesuch River Parcel is across Watson Mill Road from the Thurston Mill Monument. A short trail ends at a loop which features a small yet exciting waterfall. This trail has many steep inclines and uneven terrain. Walking sticks/hiking poles are encouraged for those with balance issues.
The Nonesuch Trail has a bridge out at Ricker Brook, before the loop to the waterfall. Repairs are scheduled for spring of 2024.
In winter, parking may be even more limited due to plows and snowbanks on the shoulder of the road. While this property is a great location for snowshowing, the steeper sections of Thurston Mill are not ideal for cross country skiing.
in spring and summer, fishing is a popular activity at Thurston Mill.
