Wesserunsett Stream Preserve offers dramatic terrain through a variety of habitat types. The trail system explores nearly 50 acres, providing access to and scenic views of Wesserunsett Stream. Enjoy seasonal streams, the shade of hemlocks, and a wealth of spring flowers as you climb and descend steep hills or take a break on several benches along the trails.
Most trails are narrow and, at times, steep, and therefore not well suited for Nordic skis, bikes or strollers. Please use caution on all bridges and steps.
Wesserunsett Stream Preserve opened in 2021 when the support of local donors, Maine Community Foundation, William P. Wharton Trust and Fields Pond Foundation allowed the purchase of 38 acres at the Evergreen Drive trailhead. The adjacent parcel to the north, acquired in 1940, was a popular swimming hole from the 1930s through the 1960s.
