Begin with any of the trails, and do all or part of the series, the entire trail is marked with signs and/or white blazes. To follow the trail from southeast to northwest, begin at the Blueberry Road trailhead to hike the Stroudwater River Trail. From there, follow Congress Street a short distance to the peaceful Fore River Sanctuary and view Jewell Falls, Portland's only waterfall. Hillcrest Street will lead to the Hall School Trail, where residential streets lead to the back entrance to Evergreen Cemetery and the University of New England Campus. Emerge onto busy Morrill's Corner to follow the sidewalk 0.75 miles to Portland Arts and Technology High School and the network of trails behind their campus. The Shalom House Trail provides a short cut to the Lyseth-Moore-Pine Grove Trail, a trail built by students at the two schools. The City of Portland's beautifully wooded Oat Nuts Park leads into the spectacular Presumpscot River Preserve.

Portland TrailsThe trail can be accessed at multiple points along the route. The two main trailheads at each end are at the Stroudwater River Trail and the Presumpscot River Preserve.
Stroudwater River Trail: The Blueberry Road trailhead and parking area is located off outer Congress Street, adjacent to the I-95 overpass. Follow Blueberry Road until it reaches a dead end. The trail and parking area are marked with signs.
Presumpscot River Preserve: From Portland’s Allen Avenue turn onto Summit Street. Follow Summit 0.7 miles to Curtis Road and turn right. Take another right when you reach Overset Road. Overset is a dead end, parking is available there in a small, marked lot. From there you can begin heading south on the Forest City Trail or head into the Preserve to see Presumpscot Falls before backtracking to hike the Forest City Trail.
