The trail begins at McKay Road. It travels north for 0.75 miles through mixed deciduous forests before reaching the boundary of the Town of Edgecomb's Schmid Preserve, which offers an additional 5.5 miles of trails.
The Church property is part of a larger network of conserved land called the River~Link system. River~Link provides a recreational trail, wildlife corridor, and greenway that connects the Sheepscot and Damariscotta Rivers. The River~Link trail begins at BRLT's Zak Preserve and extends about 7 miles to its northern terminus in Newcastle at Dodge Point Preserve, managed by Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust.
