The Deer Isle-Stonington Nature Trail consists of a 0.3-mile boardwalk, open to the public. It winds its way through forest and forested wetlands, running between the tennis courts and the school building.
The boardwalk is wheelchair-friendly with a 3.5-feet width. It is flat along most of its length, with minimal to moderate grades at its entrances. The boardwalk includes a bumper rail along its edges. Some portions of the boardwalk have boards running perpendicular to the trail; in other sections the boards are run parallel to the trail. All three trailheads include a ramp; the easternmost trailhead also has access a set of steep stairs just beyond the ramp.
There are two accessible, shaded outdoor classrooms in the woods in the middle of the trail network, and an additional sunny outdoor classroom located at the trail entrance near the tennis courts. The outdoor classrooms all include plank seating.
Across the school driveway from the boardwalks there is a 0.2-mile trail which leads to the high school parking lot. This trail is wide and flat, with primarily a woodchip and sometimes grassy surface, with a few areas where there is forest floor with some minimal roots.

Trail conditions can change without warning. Trail last assessed: 10/23/20254.
